Hailee & Forrest are Married, Orchard House, Genoa Nevada Wedding

Hey everyone, what a busy and amazing couple of weeks we’ve had over here! Two weddings in the last two weeks made for a busy schedule but what made this past couple of weeks so amazing was the people who I had the honor of working with! Hailee and Forrest had an almost storybook perfect wedding day down at the Orchard House in Genoa Nevada! If you have never been to the darling historic town of Genoa I highly recommend that you take a weekend day and make a day of it. The town is adorable, and filled with history and some of the oldest buildings in the state. This particular venue was established in 1875 and is still in the same family as the original owners, how cool is that. I had a lovely conversation with the owner who told me all kinds of interesting facts about the home he considers it an honor to be the steward of.

These two kids are so great together. I have known Hailee since she was a young girl, I want to say she was maybe in 6th grade or so when I met her mom and began working with her in ministry. I had the pleasure of watching Hailee grow into the beautiful and Christ-like young woman she is today and I am so excited to watch as she as Forrest grow together in love and build a life and a family together.

It’s a very special thing when I am asked to photograph the wedding of someone I care about, it makes my job so much fun and so very important to me. I love every couple I work with, of course, but there is something unique and special when I get to see someone I have watched grow up become a loving and God-honoring spouse!

Congrats so much you two, you deserve all the happiness, love and joy that God has to give in your lives together!

Lori is graduating! Reno Senior Portraits.

We live in the high desert here, meaning that typically our winters are cold and dry. The past few have lived up to that expectation, and to the detriment of our poor Lake Tahoe and by extension the Truckee River that flows (when there is enough water) from her.

This year however was a BANNER year our here in the Truckee Meadows and we saw some amazing winter weather and are still seeing lots (for us) of precipitation in the spring. I love it when we get a lot of water in the winter and spring, this means that our area gets a little extra green before it turns dry and brown in the summer. The flowering trees for instance, are in rare form this year and looking like something out of an Anne of Green Gables novel (somebody tell me I am not the only one permanently affected by the magical imagery of a “white way of delight” as described by Anne when she is driven to Green Gables for the first time in Matthew Cuthberts Coach… ahhh the books of my youth).

This rare weather has allowed for a couple of amazing and truly inspired senior sessions for Miss Lori here. In the winter we captured the most delicate of snowfall while shooting her first session and then in the spring we were rewarded with some of the best showing of flowers on the apple and cherry trees.

I had so much fun with Lori, she is a total natural, here casual comfortable demeanor and easy smile were a true joy to record. Thank you for being such an incredible model Lori and to your mom and Dad, great job with this kid, she is a doll!!

May the Fourth be with you… Reno, Lake Tahoe Maternity and Newborn Session

So this is a special family to me! Baby #3 who I have had the pleasure of capturing and I am elated that I get to keep on working with these adorable and imaginative little boys! We had so much fun with these sessions. Maternity photos at Lake Tahoe are the ultimate and such a blast to shoot and then once in a while I get a sweet perfectly sleepy and posey baby like little baby M here and I get to capture EVERY SINGLE POSE I wanted, including an heartmelting Yoda Baby!!! And of course I had to post this today, Happy Star Wars Day!! Enjoy!

A very special Engagement Session!

Hello There internet, how have you been!? It’s been MONTHS since we last spoke, and sooo much has been going on over here. Initially I always intend to post here about every session, wedding and news item I have to share but of course inevitably life and the pressure’s of being a sole proprietor/small business owner makes this very difficult. I would love to share with you every amazing image I have been creating, but sadly I am more focused on getting those images to my amazing clients than promoting my work here, and so this blog sits for months at a time. I would love to some day be able to keep up a more regular posting schedule, here’s hoping 🙂

In the mean time there are sometimes sessions that I just have to post. This engagement session is one of those. The bride here is my husbands cousin, and though she is a first cousin is only 2.5 years older than our daughter so we have always thought of her more like a niece and she has grown up very close to our family and especially to my daughter Jordan. In fact we just got word last night that Jordan will be a bridesmaid in the wedding so she is over the moon excited!

I am so looking forward to photographing Adriana and Michaels wedding in May! They have secured an incredible and beautiful venue and it’s going to be amazing!

For now lets focus on this fun and beautiful engagement session we shot a couple weeks ago. Here are some of my favorites. First off we hit Oxbow Nature Preserve in West Reno along the Truckee River. There was a slight dusting of snow and the river was frozen, but some leaves remained as well, a perfect scene. Next we decided to do a fun theme for some after dark images at Victorian Square and Legends in Sparks. I love the look we were able to accomplish with my Adriana wearing a gorgeous vintage style dress from Dressed Like That (Midtown Reno) and Michael wearing his Dress Blues! So much fun! Alex, class of 2015 ~ Reno Senior Portrait Photography

Hello everyone, I know it’s been a REALLY long time since my last post, I have been so busy I really have not had time to post often. I admire bloggers and photographers who have the time management skills to blog regularly, I am not that savvy! Anyways, here today I would like to talk a bit about High School Seniors and Senior Portraits. I simply adore shooting High School Seniors and wish that I had the opportunity to shoot a much higher percentage of them. I know that many kids do not get “casuals” done, and simply settle for the class photos that they are instructed to have done by a per-arranged large chain portrait studio by their school, but that just makes me sad. Every senior should have the chance to do their own personalized styled session. I really love working with young adults in creating images that speak to their uniqueness, style and personality. Who wants the same boring dated senior portraits that HUNDREDS of other kids in our area have had year after year, these cookie cutter images are so boring and do nothing to truly commemorate the individual spirit of their subject. What I provide for seniors is so individualized and customized to each student, and we really do have a fun time.

The beautiful senior girl I have to share today was an absolute JOY to photograph! Alex is, as you can see, a gorgeous girl, but more than her outer beauty this girl is a beautiful person on the inside. She was so much fun to work with, and to know that these images mean so much to her, and her mother as well as the rest of her family just makes me smile.
