One of the things I LOVE about living in the shadow of the Sierras here in the Reno/Tahoe area is just the sheer magnificence of the region we live in! Within a 4 hour drive of my front door in any direction you can find an incredible list of natural wonders, breathtaking vistas and displays of God’s creativity and majesty! One of those incredible locations is Mammoth Lakes. If you have never been to Mammoth Lakes you really should make a point to visit. The town of Mammoth is a great resort town with year round draw for the outdoorsy types who like to hike and ski, etc. There are lots of little lakes all around the area and about 10 minutes from Mammoth itself is one of the prettiest alpine lakes I have ever seen, Convict Lake. It’s one of those hidden gems that you would probably miss when driving down 395, in fact based on the name and the look of the road leading up to the lake I would suspect that many would just skip right on past it, but they would be sadly missing out. As you come around the bend and drop down into the small valley which contains this beautiful lake you are suddenly astonished by what you find, a stunning and pristine little oasis tucked sweetly away amongst striking mountain sides! This is the location of Rachel and Matt’s wedding in September of 2015, and the place they chose to have their engagement session begin. After giving me a tour of their wedding venue and shooting some stunning photos we moved on to the town center of Mammoth Lakes to take a few more photos before they headed off to a dessert tasting, how fun right!!? I cannot say enough about this amazing couple! Their affection towards each other is awe inspiring! I truly enjoyed getting to know them in this place of special significance to , it was like getting a glimpse into who they are as a couple at their very best. I have had an absolute blast working with them so far and cannot wait until I have the honor of shooting their wedding next fall! Congrats you two, I hope you adore your photos!
